The Bare Facts
Who: Virtually nothing is known about Habakkuk. He does play a
part in the apocryphal book Bel and the Dragon.
Where: Since Habakkuk writes after the fall of the Northern Kingdom, it may be
reasonably assumed that he wrote from the Southern Kingdom.
When: Habakkuk prophesied between 609 and 598 B.C., while Nebuchadnezzar's Babylonian armies were
advancing on Palestine.
What: The burden or oracle of Habakkuk concerns the question of
"when?" When will God bring about his Kingdom on Earth?
