John by El Greco

"In the beginning was the word."  With these magnificent words, John the Evangelist begins his gospel.  Widely believed to have been the last gospel written, John's gospel contains the most fully developed and articulated theology of the four.  For some skeptical scholars, this indicates that John was a imposing his own ideas upon the pure and original gospel.  The problem with such a theory is that no real evidence backs it up.
